The Magdalene Chapel calls us into service to awaken to our connection with Spirit that can lead us to create a better world. We are invited to walk the way of Magdalene – to practice awareness, contemplation, and presence as She moves us toward actions of restoration, healing, and loving kindness. We humbly dedicate ourselves to listen and to follow in Her footsteps.
The more we practice, the more we can become the empty reeds for Her presence and Love to manifest.

Our Magdalene eucharist ritual comes to us from Tau Rosamonde Miller (1942-2021) who for over 50 years faithfully transmitted the teachings of the Holy Order of Miriam of Magdala from France. The Order claims its lineage of succession from Mary Magdalene herself. The community gathered since early times even through eras of persecution, when for its survival, it went underground. It is a blessing that Rosamonde established a Sanctuary in 1973 in northern California for the celebration of this ritual – a weekly gathering that continues to this day in Redwood City to which you are most welcome. A very small Magdalene Chapel was dedicated in Oakland in 2006. We held meditations on the full moon and new moon, and other healing rituals.
In 2010, we began our weekly Saturday celebration of the Magdalene eucharist. Our gatherings were paused in 2024 as the chapel space was needed for another purpose, and its contents were set aside into storage.
Through synchronicities and dreams, in the spring of 2026 we were guided to this beautiful landmark cottage in Berkeley. Stepping inside, we could immediately feel its joyful energy, enhanced by the hummingbirds, finches, and crows hovering about outside in the sweet garden. Our hearts sang upon finding this new “home.”
To immerse oneself in a tradition that has a deep taproot passing from generation to generation has its benefits. This chapel keeps alive the love of Magdalene, whose essence we can feel even now. By carrying this lineage, we vow to practice peace, reconciliation, and grace in our daily lives.
